As of April 2009, everybody selling or letting their property needs to have compiled a Home Information Pack (HIP) before the property is marketed. This ensures that buyers have all the information they need on a particular property and can buy a home with confidence. Contained in the HIP is an Energy Performance Certificate (EPC). This certificate reports on the energy efficiency of that property and where necessary gives recommendations to improve the energy efficiency.
Anybody selling or renting a property is now required by law to provide an Energy Performance Certificate (EPC). These EPC's are a vital part in the Governments drive to reduce CO2 emissions and help improve the energy efficiency of buildings.
These certificates are part of a Home Information Pack (HIP) and are bar graphs with ratings from A to G: 'A' means very energy efficient and 'G' not energy efficient at all.
There is also a narrative report to demonstrate the savings that could be made and it also gives recommendations of improving energy efficiency for your property.
After contacting us and giving us basic information about the approximate age, number of bedrooms and amount of floors in the property, and of course the address, we will confirm the appointment by letter and/or email, together with the terms and conditions and payment details.
On average, a three bedroom two storey house will take approximately 45 minutes to 1 hour to survey. The survey details are then taken away and uploaded to a software program. This program will produce the EPC together with recommendations. After 48 hours your EPC should be ready and will be posted to you. A copy is also available to view online
